From The Chairman

As the backbone of food security in the world, it is imperative that sustainable agriculture is supported in all possible ways. South Africa is no exception to this but the transformations of economic and political systems in this country have caused agriculture to be left somewhat exposed from supportive structures to assist producers in their role.

In times where the producer needs for agricultural services are increasing, support from cooperatives is declining. The recent revolution in technology development furthermore caused communication patterns to change. Due to changed international economic trends the market playground altered and local producers are currently competing with international counterparts on national markets.

All these factors caused an increased need for an agricultural support structure on grass roots level. Given the unique political and social situation of South Africa, these organisations also have to be interactive catalysts, bringing together the various sectoral role players and creating a platform for indaba and multi directional communication.

Agri Mega started of as a service provider for agriculture and a home for all sectoral interest groups. Since, Agri Mega expanded its vision to fill the gaps in agricultural service delivery as to become a sustainable and holistic servant of the sector. Agri Mega expanded its value adding services to all interest groups and provides services which were previously supplied by other entities.

Amongst others, Agri Mega is the service provider in regards to the annual Agri Mega Week and expos such as Agri Cape Week in Paarl. Through filial companies such as Agri MES, Agri Promo, Mega Events and Agri Mega Expos, Agri Mega Group provides an array of services, focussing on the agricultural sector. A section for operational services in the Group provides services to a diverse group of agricultural role-players and organisations.

Agri Mega became an 'address' for agricultural groupings, seeking common ground and partnerships with other role players. Through the expos and other initiatives, Agri Mega set a platform for networking amongst producers, service providers, suppliers, governments, public participants, interest groups, the youth and other role players.

The future of agriculture ought to be in the hands of agriculture. Agri Mega has become a mechanism to expand and maintain the status quo and will continue to serve the industry with passion. We are proud to participate in sustainable agriculture. We continuously strive to contribute substantially in creating a prosperous future through serving the needs of agricultural.
